Just In: CLOGSAG Supports Teacher’s Industrial Action

PRESS RELEASE BY CIVIL AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT STAFF ASSOCIATION, GHANA (CLOGSAG) IN SOLIDARITY WITH TEACHER UNIONS, GHANA THAT HAD DECLARED STRIKE AT PRE TERTIARY LEVELS

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has been following with keen interest the impasse between the three Teachers Unions and the Ghana Education Service.

While supporting the Teacher Unions on the bold steps they have taken to sanitize the operations of the Ghana Education Service, CLOGSAG finds the twists and turns in the discussion quite unhealthy.

Similar appointments in the Civil Service and the Local Government Service are not conducive for industrial harmony.

A case in point is the appointment of Registrar at the Births and Deaths Registry, that has culminated in a court action that is still pending.

CANA The 1992 Constitution provides under Article 195(1) that 195(1)"subject to the provisions of this Constitution, the power to appoint persons to hold or to act in an office in the public services shall vest in the President, acting in accordance with the advice of the governing council of the service concerned given in consultation with the Public Services Commission"
